Grow Your Facebook Presence With These Tips

Many brands are enticed to start a Facebook presence when they see the success of companies like Target and Starbucks. Your practice may not reach hundreds of millions of fans (although it may), but there are targeted steps you can take to build your Facebook page quickly and efficiently.

Use what you already have
One of the reasons national brands are so successful on social media is because they had a loyal fan following prior to setting up their accounts. Chances are, your Facebook page is not the first online interaction you'll have with your customer base. Use your already established channels such as an email newsletter and your website to drive traffic to your new Facebook page. This is as simple as putting a link to your page above the fold on your emails and website pages in the form of a Facebook logo.

Utilize the (free) tools Facebook gives you
The native Facebook platform provides many opportunities to engage with your community once they become fans. One option is to ask questions using Facebook's poll feature. Remember that many people aren't comfortable interacting with brands on a daily basis, so don't overuse this feature. Ask multiple choice questions so that your fans can answer them quickly and easily. Ask engaging questions that you would want to reply to - don't just use this for target market research. There are paid tools you can use on Facebook as well, such as Offers, which give your fans a special discount on procedures. To take advantage of an Offer, click "Offer/Event" at the top of your publishing box, choose "Offer", and follow the steps Facebook provides for you to create your discount.

Launch fun contests
Many brands see success with contests on Facebook - use an application like Easy Promos to easily create an engaging contest your fans will want to enter. Ideas include gathering their name and email (valuable information for that email newsletter you run) to give them a chance to win something (it can be as simple as a Visa gift card or a free electric toothbrush). Make sure your offer is enticing enough for your fans to enter - offers have to be valuable in order for people to feel comfortable giving you their personal information.

Explain yourself
Many companies scream at people to "like" them on Facebook... without providing any incentive as to why they might be interested. Instead of just promoting "Like XYZ Dentistry on Facebook", you should say, "For more fun tips, promotions, and photos, like XYZ Dentistry on Facebook!"

Be relevant
As tempting as it may be, don't only talk about your practice on your Facebook page - show that you care about community events and local news. If your city is voting on whether or not to put fluoride in the tap water, write a short blog post about what this means for your patients. Or, if you don't have time to write your own post, publish a link to a local news story about it. The key to social media is to be social, not sales-y.

Keep content fresh
No matter what types of content you post regularly - contests, blog posts, or questions - change it up frequently so you can measure what works and what doesn't work for your page engagement. Posting regularly will also entice your fans to check back more regularly to see what content you've published.

Watch your insights
Facebook's free Insights tool gives brands a good idea of what posts increase engagement... and what posts do not. You can easily click the Insights tab on your Admin panel and see how many fans react to individual posts. You may find that on average, more fans like and comment on posts that include photos or stories about certain subjects. Pay attention to your successes so you can easily repeat them.

Overall, growing a Facebook page following seems like a daunting task - but if you follow these few key tricks and don't give up after a few short months, you will almost certainly see success in your online community.

Social Media Marketing Company or Internal Specialist?

In the following article we'll take a look at key considerations when choosing specialized social media marketing firms.

The company's "language" is as important as the big picture
The option of choosing an internal person is supported by the idea that they already speak the company's "language" and knows the company "inside out", but let's keep in mind that one of the skills essential a social networking specialist needs is being able to see the big picture and offer a fresh perspective. That's what we do best! Company experts will rapidly learn the company's "language", while keeping in mind your big picture - managing your brand and driving inbound leads.

When it comes to social networking online, staying up-to-date with the latest industry news is a must. Platforms are always changing; ideas and innovations are constantly coming and going. Who better to keep tabs on these changes that than a team of trained and experienced professionals? Your employees know your business, we know social media.

Social Networking can be an operational expense
Wouldn't it be nice if you could be able to decide your own budget and choose your own services for social media? A specialized firm can help you with that and your social media will become an operational expense. This way, you will not have to pay for the constant services of an in-house social media person when you can benefit from the only services you truly need and can afford.

Also, keep in mind that there are situations when an internal social media specialist is needed only for specific campaigns; paying him constantly would be a waste of resources. Other times, certain campaigns require additional resources for a short time. Social media firms offers on-demand, scalable services that can be used as your primary social networking team or to enhance your internal resources when needed.

Learning on your dime is not an option
Our company has a team of fully trained and up to date social media experts who are focused on the results and are really passionate about the industry. We use tested strategies and can adapt them according to the each client's needs and objectives. We don't experiment, we just implement. Also, our experts enjoy participating in conferences, training programs, and other inbound marketing events.

Complete service package
A specialized company can offer a flexible variety of skills, while an in house person is focused on specified activities. With us, your business can leverage experts on Social Platforms, SEO, PPC, and Content Marketing when needed. Why settle for one expert when you can have an entire scalable team at your service for less than the salary of one employee? Also, having all of your digital marketing needs managed by the same company means coordinated efforts, and you won't have to deal with multiple agencies and disconnected strategies.

Your business needs more skills than one person can provide
There are times when the in-house person who manages social platforms in a company also handles sales, administrative tasks, or other activities. Consequently, the social media strategy doesn't get the full attention it deserves and results take more time to appear. A social media company comes with a team of trained experts whose only purpose is to rapidly achieve results for your company. Also, our team approach means we'll immediately apply the senior level skills your business needs to succeed, and not the limited skills an internal individual may have. In other words, your goal will become our goal, and the results will prove that

The annual Social Media Marketing Industry Report says that marketers have gradually increased social networking outsourcing since last year-in 2011, 28% outsourced social, and in 2012, this number rose to 30%. As more businesses realize the potential of scalable services from expert firms, these percentages will surely continue to rise.

Social Media Marketing Is Real and It Works

In the ever evolving landscape of social networks, you might be wondering if you are obtaining the most from your business's social media marketing campaign.

In this document, I'd like to cultivate upon that list and talk about some substantial changes in social networks, as well as offer some extra tips that anyone can apply to your social media strategy coupled with social networking sites.

Common Social Media Strategies

First, we will begin with the back to fundamentals tips that pertain to any sort of social network your company is using. They are the methods that even advanced social media folks frequently overlook sometimes.

Be sure that your social profiles are extensive and up to date. Use Google to find your company name and also your own name. See which social networking sites are ranked both on the first couple of pages. Jot them down, and then take a look at each profile to verify your complete facts are completed and up to date. This can include replacing your website details if you have added anything different, such as a blog or an online shop.

Cross advertise your social profiles. Try to find opportunities to add links collected from one social profile to others. Google+, for example, allows you to link to as many of your alternative social profiles as you pick out. Your YouTube channel delivers a spot for Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ links. Furthermore, you should never forget to feature your social profiles within your email signature with applications such as WiseStamp or straight forward text links to your social media sites.

Examine your email address book for additional people to connect with on social networks, and try this periodically. If it has been a couple of months (or a few years) since you last checked your email contacts for first time people to come in contact with on social networking sites, now is a great time to do so. Give it a try Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.

Refrain from purchasing followers and fans. It is a fairly easy mistake to get caught in whenever your aim is to basically magnify your number of social fans. However, networks like Facebook are actually working to eliminate fake likes from pages. Additionally, tools for Twitter are unveiling accounts with a high amount of fake followers. So keep in mind that it's not worthwhile. Fake followers and fans will do absolutely nothing for your captivation or your revenue.

Work with Google Analytics to calculate your social media efforts. Firstly, create goals in Google Analytics. Then make use of the new social reporting attributes of Google Analytics to ensure that you are getting results from your social media advertising campaign. You might not be capable to evaluate some primary advantages of social networking like engagement and the developing consumer loyalty with your social network followers, but the truth is can gauge simply how much targeted traffic social media marketing brings to your site and how much of that targeted traffic results in conversions.

Social media marketing is something that works and is measurable. A top Internet marketing company should be able to point you in the right direction.

Local Online Marketing - Your Business Won't Survive Without These Products/Services - Yes Really!

Social media is a big part of any marketing plan. I have seen many new business owners get started with the belief that social media is all they need. This is definitely not true. There are seven programs and services that you are going to need in order for your business to survive on line.

1. Data backup. It is sad how many people don't back up their data. What would you do if you lost everything? There are many ways that you can have data backup be automatic so that you don't have to remember to go in and do it every day. Get out there, take a look and find out what works best for you. Personally I have a plug-in on my word press website that automatically sends me a backup every single day. I don't have to do anything, I don't have to remember and it's automatic.

2. A shopping cart. A shopping cart will enable your customers to purchase products from your social media profiles, you can create the links, create the pages to put the links on, have those great buy now buttons and the web forms that are going to enable you to make all of that happen.

3. Credit card processing. Yes, you can go without accepting credit cards and just have clients/customers use PayPal. There are many people who will not connect their accounts to PayPal but you want to make it as easy as possible for people to pay you money. You can do that by making sure that you get a credit card processing company and are able to accept all types of credit cards.

4. Web hosting. Your website needs a place to be hosted. There are many different companies out there. Do your research. My personal favorite is HostGator. There are a lot of them out there. Check out, do the research, find what works best for you.

5. Antivirus software. The bigger your site gets, the greater the chance that someone will hack it or will attempt to hack it. I did have my site hacked once. It was a very scary experience! Luckily with HostGator, they cleaned it up for me, but it scared the daylights out of me. Becuase I thought I was just a little page, just getting started, why would anyone want to hack me? WRONG! So I now have antivirus software on my computer.

6. Accounting. This is the one that I procrastinated on for way too long. Start early, get a free version of some accounting software, and get the smallest version that you can, get started. Don't wait on this one. It is really important if you're going to want your business to get bigger and bigger that you are keeping track of all the numbers.

And now, I would like to invite you to get your Free Instant Access to our marketing for local businesses newsletter.

Tips For Using YouTube

Include main keyword in title

Let's say for example that you are running an online shop that sells cosmetic products specifically targeted to Asian women. What do you think is the main keyword for your business? Here are some good guesses: cosmetics for Asian women, Asian cosmetics, and cosmetics in Asia. Whatever is your main keyword, it is important that you include it in your main title. So how do you figure out which main keyword you should use? You can use the online tool AdWords to help you find the best keyword for your business. If you do this correctly, your YouTube video will rank high in Google search results.

Choose a catchy title

Even if your video manages to appear on the top ten search results of Google, it is up to the user if he will click the link to your video or not. So how can you make sure that users will click your video once it appears in their Google search results? One way is to give your video a really catchy title. It should not be very fancy. The title simply have to project the impression "Hey, I have the information you are looking for so click me".

Use all possible related tags

Many people fail to maximize the use of this YouTube feature. In fact, many people do not use this feature at all! So what are tags? Tags are one-word keywords that YouTube allows you to attach to each video that you upload. Make sure that you include all related tags to make your video more visible.

Thumbnail should be appetizing

When your video appears in the search results of YouTube and Google, it will be shown as a video thumbnail. The thumbnail is usually the video's first frame. Make sure that your video's thumbnail is appealing to users by placing a good first frame to your video. When it comes to cosmetic products for example, a thumbnail showing a beautiful woman's face with a smooth and blemish-free skin would be good.

Provide links in the description box

YouTube allows you to write a description for every video that you will upload. And the good part is that YouTube's description box can hold a live link. Take advantage of this feature and provide links to your main webpage or specific page in your website that shows the specific product that you are featuring in the video. Add some description like this: for more information about this product/to place an order, visit this link.

Add related channels as friends

YouTube allows you to add other YouTube account holders as friends. Now here is what you need to do: think of which organizations or which popular YouTube channels are closely related to your field and then add them as friends. If you are selling women's makeup for example, you might want to add channels that post video tutorials on doing makeup. This is because most of your target customers are likely to be visiting these channels. You want to expose your channel to them.

Create dummy accounts

Using the dummy accounts that you made, visit other channels where your potential customers are likely to be. If you are selling laptops for example, you might want to visit channels that discuss about laptops. Use the dummy accounts to post comments that invite viewers to view and visit your YouTube channel. Make sure that you sound natural. It should not be obvious that you are representing your company. You should sound like a regular YouTube user that is only giving a good advice to fellow YouTube users.

Create a strategic playlist

Now this is a bit tricky but very effective. Using a dummy account, create a playlist that will direct YouTube users to your videos. How do you do this? In your playlist, the first video should be something that people in your target niche are likely to visit. When selling women's makeup for example, try using a popular makeup tutorial video as first video in your playlist (video uploaded by another user). After this, the second or third video should be one of your own videos. So after YouTube users are done watching the makeup tutorial video, they will automatically be directed to one of your videos. Try making several playlists using different YouTube accounts.

Accuracy of Your Monitoring Metrics May Not Be Enough, Use the Insights and Engage With Customers

Successfully managing a social media strategy may not be possible if you aren't sure how to use different social marketing tools. I guess there's no flip side of the coin. It's either to know how to do it, or you will definitely make a big mess with whatever you do on social networks.

Social media monitoring must be regarded as an integral aspect of any online marketing campaign. Quite understandably, there's no way you can do anything worthwhile with your digital media investments if you aren't leveraging the power of social media sites. And going in tune with this fact, you can't do any good with your social activities, if you don't know how to measure the success ratio using a variety of monitoring tools.

The digital media monitoring tools that are in use now are quite accurate, as far as interpretation of recent data is concerned. Yet there still lies an amount of doubt. The tools use the data they are able to retrieve from your social media channel. While some data is showcased on a weekly basis, some monthly, some may be custom searched, and so on. Therefore, it becomes pretty hard for any digital marketer to figure out a perfect method of using these tools to measure how far they have matured as a social media pro. A vivid idea can be developed, of course. But the results that you can produce using social media monitoring tools may not be conclusive of the absolute success of your online marketing campaign. Hence, you have to use these tools, but not entirely depend on the results that come out.

The raw insights that you can dig out from any social channel is always useful. If you are working as a social marketer for quite some time now, then it wouldn't be hard for you to understand the common trend of your social activities. Analyzing the insights will give you an idea as to where you might possibly go wrong. And you can begin working on that particular area, hoping better results will follow the next time when you dig out the same insights.

Social media monitoring should become a habit, but it mustn't reduce the level of audience engagement at any point in time. That will be badly harmful. Keep communicating with your audience, and I am quite sure that desired results will follow in some time, if not immediately.

Mark Weyland is a social media monitoring expert. His analysis and reports have helped different businesses to promote themselves, better and bigger.

Pinterest - The Beautiful Social Media

Pinterest is the newest big Social Media phenomenon after Facebook and Twitter. Although the beta version of Pinterest was launched in March 2010 which operated on an invitation-only basis, it eventually opened to everyone only in August 2012. The interest in Pinterest has been so great that it has become the fastest website in history to break through the 10 million unique visitor mark which was reported in January 2012.

When you visit the Pinterest website, what strikes you straightaway is the imagery. It is just full of beautiful images which you could not imagine existed. There are pictures posted of everything but mainly of places, clothing, food, babies and cute animals. But it is not just limited to these. The current statistics from Pinterest states the most popular pins to be in the order of Food and Drinks, DIY and Crafts, Home Decor, Women's Fashion, Hair and Beauty and other categories. In short, Pinterest has been taken to heart by the female population. Some estimates suggest the proportion of female users to range anything between 72-96% of total Pintrest users.

So how is Pinterest similar to or different from Facebook and Twitter you may ask. Imagine Pinterest to be at one extreme of image-to-text scale and Twitter at the other while Facebook is somewhere in the middle. In Pinterest there are features just like in Facebook and Twitter that make them social such as the ability to follow, like, share and comment on other users material, which in the case of Pinterest are only the images. The more powerful the image, the more interest you will provoke in visitors to your profile which in turn will result in your profile attracting more followers. As In other social media platforms, followers can be converted to customers.

So, if you have never been on Pinterest, this is how it works. Everything on Pinterest is organised around images. You can pin your images on pinboards which you can create around whatever category you choose. For instance you can create a board on your hobbies, events, businesses, travel, fashions, foods etc. You can even repin other users images you to one of your own boards.

If an image is liked enough, there is a great opportunity for it to go viral. Just imagine the effect that would have on your website in terms of the traffic it would attract if one or more of your images linked to your website went viral!

However, one of the major disadvantages of Pinterest must be finding attractive images to post regularly. Unlike Twitter and Facebook where you can conduct your social interaction with words, you cannot do this on Pinterest without first posting an image. To, overcome this issue, you can post images from third party sites such as Google and Flickr. You must always post images that are relevant to your pinboard and you must adhere to the copyright of the image you pin.

Just as in other social media, if you show interest in someone by following or liking, they are most likely to return the favour. And if those you follow are interested in your niche and they followed you back then you have accomplished what people in internet marketing strive to do, which is to get targeted traffic.

Images are very powerful and emotive objects to humans and therefore a great potential exists to monetize them. The easiest way is to attach affiliate links to the images. Unfortunately from internet marketers' point of view, this practice is frowned upon by Pinterest who have been known to alter the affiliate links to their own advantage. This practice by Pinterest could potentially land them in deep legal waters.

Unlike words which are plenty and readily available, images are restrictive but more importantly they are subject to copyright laws. Certain websites have opted out of having their images pinned on Pinterest by deploying a special meta tag that was released by Pinterest. This puts further limitations on finding attractive and unique images that are readily available.

All social media are evolving entities, including Pinterest. Perhaps it will adapt and evolve into something different in the future. However for now, it presents an enormous opportunity for internet marketer to do business on Pinterest.

Pinterest, as part of the overall internet marketing strategy could make a significant contribution to your online business. It is yet another viable source to make money online.

Google+ - Your Identity Friend

To make a success of your online business, you cannot ignore social networking sites, otherwise also known as Web 2.0 sites. The biggest of this is of course Facebook which is now boasting 1 billion regular users. Twitter is the second biggest network followed by the newest, Google+.

Google+ was formed in 2011. After a succession of forays by Google into social networking it has currently settled on Google+. Today it has 400 million users with about a 100 million of them being active users on a per month basis.

Following the recent Google search algorithm changes known as Google Panda and Google Penguin, more emphasis is now given to Web 2.0 traffic to websites. In other words if you wished your website to rank higher in Google, you need to get more traffic from sites such as Google+. Google monitors all links to websites and it will boost rankings of all sites with deep Web 2.0 links.

Google+ also offers an identity service. It insists only real people sign up. Once it has your real profile, it will, if you wished, verify your website in Google Search Engine Results Page (SERP) by attaching your Google+ profile photo whenever your site appears in SERP.

Google will boost your site's ranking if it is verified by Google+. So, for any serious website owner or blogger, it is important to be part of Google+. To many internet users, the fact that Google strongly discourages the use of online pseudonym seems unfair. They argue that since the privacy controversy is still not settled, revealing too much of yourselves online poses threats and should be avoided. From Google's point of view, real people posting good material online will ultimately boost their own credibility in the long run.

Google+ is not only the newest social network, but it has also brought with it some important and unique changes to the social networking scene. For instance, Google+ makes it a breeze to segment your friends. For instance on Facebook, if you posted something, each one of your friends and perhaps friends of friends can see what you have done.

In Google+, you can be more selective about who can see what you are doing each time. You can segment your friends into a limitless number of "circles" (short for" circle of friends") if you wished. So, for instance, if you wanted to show photos of what you got on at the weekend to only some of your friends and not everyone (because some of these friends might be work related), then you can do so by segmenting these friends into separate circles. So you could have "out of work friends" circle and "work friends" circle.

This simple, yet ingenious feature means that you can target your audience even more accurately. You could compose your messages in such a way that it targets each circle precisely with what they want to hear from you. Another good feature is that the people you connect to do not know which of your circle they belong to. All they know is that they have a connection with you. So you can go ahead and name your circles whichever way you wished.

One other notable feature in Google+ is the "Hangout" where you can invite friends in your circle to participate all at the same time in a live video session. This seems to be a very powerful feature especially for conducting business.

There are many interesting features in Google+ which is beyond this article to discuss and I am sure there will be others coming along in the future which will enhance the capabilities of Google+ even further.

With Google Search continuing to dominate the search arena and further consolidate its power, you would be unwise to disregard Google+. In its current ranking algorithm, Google+ is a feature amongst others but none the less an important feature you would be ill advised to ignore if you wished your site to rank higher in Google SERP.

Social Media Marketing Ensures Foolproof ROI

Social media is growing day by day and has vast appeal. This is the reason why companies are spending huge amount in advertising through these channels. This not just another means of direct contact with the consumers but it is the 'continued' means of contact. This has made the bonding between the two much stronger and the companies also get the fair idea about their customers and their feedback regarding the product too. There are many functions of social media and these enable companies to reach to more customers.

Big companies use digital marketing strategies and there are certain noticeable trends that have evolved in recent times. Outsourcing is the recent trend that has evolved in advertising. In this, big companies outsource their marketing to advertising companies, this makes advertising and managing it, easier. Social media agency takes the responsibility of coordinating and extracting relevant information from various departments. Small firms go for in house advertising where people of each department coordinate and collect information and then give it to the advertising medium. Social media personals then use this information for advertising.

Social media has a wide network and so it makes the product reach maximum viewers. The share and like options help in increasing the visibility of the product service or the company. The strategies adopted by the social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and others include highlighting the products on the pages and conducting surveys regarding the products. All these are ways to promote a company and its products.

Social networking sites are coming up as the most powerful tool for creating awareness and many social issues are being promoted through them. These are frequently used to create awareness and to promote social causes which are personal or collective in nature. Besides this, companies do not hesitate to incur heavy prices on advertisement now. Social networking sites are being paid huge sums so that the company gets maximum advertisement and wide reach. These sites also do the needful and the products are displayed on all pages. There are business pages also which are created on these sites and users are requested to visit and like the same. Bridging the Gap Between the Young and Old Through Social Media

Today, social media is the fastest in terms of gaining popularity. In the digital world today, almost everyone uses the internet. Social media connects people from one side of the globe to the other side. It creates a bond even if two people are miles apart. We use online networking to express our feelings, mood and sometimes, even our deepest emotions. At times, it has become a way to relieve stress and relax. With social media, people can even play games with other who they don't even know. Nowadays, it is used even in marketing and advertising. Social networking, indeed, invaded the World Wide Web.

I remembered when Friendster, Facebook and Twitter emerged. I was a teenage girl that time. Internet was not my thing. However, my peers forced me to register. And so, I did. There came a time when I did not want to go elsewhere. I just wanted to stay in front of my computer. For me, social media that time was all about socializing. Making friends, liking their pictures, sharing their posts, retweeting other people's tweets. I never imagined that the business world can invade social media. I can always compare the internet scene today and it was six to eight years ago. Today, I can see a lot of advertising and marketing happening on Facebook and Twitter. Even companies have their accounts already because through social networking, they can easily reach out to their clients. Plus, it is free!

Through the years of using this wonderful discovery, I noticed the most of the account owners or managers were about my age. At present times, even my father who is turning 48 has already a Facebook account. My 10-year old cousin is also using Facebook already. A lot has changed in the online scene over the years.

I've read a lot of article that accounts should be handled by younger generations. Well, I believe that social media was created for all. It was made for everyone, for socializing and discovering a lot of aspects. There are advertisements that target the younger generations. Yet, there are also advertisements for the older ones. Marketers behind these advertisements are experts in marketing. A 50-year old marketer can always draw clients aging 25 years old or younger. He or she should just have knowledge about the younger generation - what they want and what they need. A 50-year old marketer is obviously more experienced than a 25-year old marketer.

Social media is for everyone. If young and old marketers work together, they will certainly learn from each other. After all, we can see all the generations in social media.

How to Use Pop Up Domination To Explode Your List Via Facebook

Pop Up Domination is great for significantly improving your email list signups on your website, but it's also extremely effective for improving sign ups on your Facebook fan page.

If you don't have a Facebook fan page yet, I recommend setting one up soon.

So, assuming that you DO have a Facebook fan page for your website, right now I'm going to talk about how to integrate the newest version of Pop Up Domination with your fan page on Facebook so that when someone goes to your page on the social network, they will be greeted by your pop up just as if they were on your own website. Social media is the present and future of traffic, so don't ignore it.

First, log in to Facebook with your account which is associated with your Facebook page.

Then go to https://developers.facebook.com/ and register with that same information. Click the "create new app" box in the upper right corner and give it a name which is associated with your site as this is what people will see when they opt in with this template.

Click on the "access token" button and then click on the edit settings link underneath the "create new app" button. Next click on the "I own a website and want to integrate Facebook login" checkbox and proceed to input your information including your site's URL and the domain name (yoursite.com format). Once you've saved all of your settings, you'll be given an App ID number.

Take this and paste this into the "Facebook App ID" section of the "template fields" tab. Save the changes in Pop Up Domination while on that tab and you can go ahead and make changes or design your pop up in the plugin and it will begin to appear on your Facebook page just as it would or does on your website itself.

From there it's all about driving traffic to your Facebook page which is a lot easier to do than driving traffic to your website, particularly when it comes to sending people who are already on Facebook at that moment to your page. You might think about doing this via Facebook advertising which is the Google AdWords of the Facebook world with the advantage being that you can create much more targeted ads and conversions because people on Facebook freely give away their personal and preferential information.

Check out my complete Facebook advertising strategy, then combine this with Pop Up Domination (check out my Pop Up Domination review ) and you're going to be a very happy and profitable list owner and entrepreneur.

6 Ways to Grow Targeted Twitter Followers

Last week I spent a couple of days focusing on Twitter trying to really nail down best practices for growth. The results of that focus? A 33% growth in targeted followers and over 400% spike in interaction and click-throughs on our links over three days. Here's how we did it.

1. Follow Other Users

This is the most basic step, but worth mentioning upfront. If you don't have a huge following on your blog and you're a small to medium size business, growing twitter followers without reaching out and following others is extremely tough. You need to reach out to others who are in your industry or part of your target market and start following them. If you're providing great content, chances are they'll follow you back. To do this effectively you need to find the right people to follow-sure, simply following everyone who comes across your path works to a degree, but they won't be valuable followers and chances are your twitter ratio (followers to who you follow) will be horribly skewed. That reflects poorly on your company image.

2. TweetAdder

Meet TweetAdder, my new favorite tool for finding users to follow. I'll dedicate a full post to TweetAdder in the future because of its extremely powerful follow/unfollow/message automation, but one of the things it lets you do is search for people to follow based on keywords. You can narrow search results based on location, what they're tweeting about, their profile description, and more. We used it to target marketing execs and CEOs in the DFW area. Once you find those users, it's easy to reach out to them on twitter. Localized results are always the most valuable. It has an initial fee, but the value is well worth it.

3. Webinars

Find and participate in webinars! Not only is it a valuable learning opportunity, but these events usually have a corresponding hashtag for attendees to tweet about the event, either asking questions or sharing information to their followers. Get those hashtags and start pumping out tweets during the event. This is where we really saw a jump in user interaction.

If you provide social media services, find a webinar about social media best practices. Some people might be your competitors, but a lot of attendees will be prospects looking to increase their own knowledge. This is a great time to reach out, retweet other users, and share your own content and offers. For a recent webinar on using Facebook for business (#FB4BIZ) we had a lot of visitors to our blog-and retweeting our blog-simply because we offered additional information and reading about the webinar subject to other attendees. If you're a real estate company, find home buyer webinars. If you do bankruptcy consultation, find a bankruptcy webinar. It's easy to do, and it becomes more effective the more blog content and ebooks (top of funnel content!) you have to share.

4. Directories

Directories are a mixed bag, but they're well worth talking about. Some are much more valuable than others. Like TweetAdder, this will eventually be a blog post on its own, but the concept of a twitter directory is the same as any other directory-users can find you, and you can find other users to follow, based on what your services are and what your twitter is about. Our favorites are WeFollow and Twellow, which you should add yourself to just for the passive follows even if you never interact with the sites again. Other directories, such as Twiends, can be used to hugely grow your followers, but often you'll just see a jump in numbers and not in interaction because those following will have no interest in your actual content. The droprate can also be very high. I would discourage using a cheap shortcut without value, but if pure growth without results is your interest, then it's worth exploring.

5. Keywords and Hashtags

You knew we'd get here eventually, didn't you? Use good keywords! Once more: Use good keywords! If you're tweeting your keywords, even if you aren't using hashtags, your tweets will show up in searches. Studies suggest that the sweet spot with hashtags is two tashtags per tweet. One is good, but move to three and you'll see a big dropoff in interaction. Hashtags earn your tweets twice the amount of interaction as those without. (Speaking of, ask your followers to retweet you! It can make a huge difference.) The extra bonus about keywords and hashtags is that users who find your twitter this way are almost always quality follows. They'll engage more, and a higher amount could be potential leads.

6. Marketing Integration

Plaster your twitter account everywhere and on everything. Every piece of marketing material that goes out, add your twitter account. It should be in prominent view on your website, it should be on your direct mail pieces, it should be on your promotional items, it should be in your email blasts. Ask people to follow you and they will come. It's really that simple. Get your twitter account out to the world and the world will follow.

What Should Dentists Pin On Pinterest?

Pinterest is a rising star in the social media world. Pinterest acts as a virtual "pinboard" for inspiration, ideas, how-to instructions, and more. It drives more traffic to websites than both Facebook and Twitter, because the visual component entices readers to click.

To "pin" photos onto Pinterest, you can either upload your own content from your computer or simply browse through the site's massive collection of photos already uploaded and shared by other users. Photos are split into categories such as Design, Education, and Health & Fitness. Save your favorite photos to boards on your profile to share with your followers. To make your photos even more visible on the site, use hashtags in your description, which are searchable on Pinterest, much in the same way as Twitter. For example, if you post a photo of your dental office, write "Our #dental office" in the description - then, when someone searches for "dental" your photo will be featured in the stream of results.

Pinterest users can follow each other's boards, like and comment on photos, and share their boards with friends to allow others to pin. Many brands have seen success with Pinterest, gaining thousands of followers and driving traffic to their website, which then converts to more sales.

While a visual social network may not seem intuitive for a dentistry practice, it can be extremely beneficial to your marketing campaign. There are several ways dentists can succeed in a Pinterest campaign for their practice.

Give your followers an inside view

Share photos of your practice, both inside and out. Let your Pinterest followers experience your dental practice before they even get there! If you recently re-modeled your waiting area, let them see that on your social networks. If there is a park or walking trail near your practice - show it off!

Show off your success

Ask your patients if you can take "before and after" shots of their dental work to share on your social networks and website. Pinterest is the perfect platform to show off your practice's success stories in a visually stimulating way.

Share your hobbies

Social networks, especially Pinterest, are great places for you to share your hobbies and interests outside of work. This will allow followers, clients, and potential clients to get a deeper look into who works at your practice and they will be more enticed to engage with your brand.

Feature other impressive dental offices

Many dentists go all out when designing their practice - they not only have high-tech equipment, but they have designer quality furniture, televisions, and impressive interior design features. These are great office photos to share on your Pinterest boards... and can even serve as a source of inspiration for your own office!

Use humor

There are many sources of humorous inspiration on Pinterest that can be used on your practice's boards. Comics and jokes of dental humor are happily shared among Pinterest users, and will be engaging content for your followers.

Be a resource

While Pinterest is mainly a visual platform, it can be used to post interesting articles as well. Post photos you use in your blog articles to link back to your website and establish yourself as a source of information for your followers. You can also post photos from other dental information sources with a link back to their website for your followers.

Overall, Pinterest can seem like a counter-intuitive social network for dentists to get involved in, but if used correctly and carefully, it can lead to traffic for your website and eventually new clients!
